Dr. Alice Prince on the Importance of Diversity & Inclusion in the Workplace

In a recent article, Alice Prince offered some advice on Diversity and Inclusion!

St. Louis, Missouri – September 2, 2020 – In a recent article for the publication Kivo Daily, Dr. Alice Prince shared some advice about the importance of Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace.

Dr. Prince is currently the CEO and President of Pathways United, a full-service workforce and education consulting firm specializing in diversity and inclusion. She holds a B.S. from St. Louis University and a Master of Arts in Communication Management from Webster University.

In the recent article, Alice Prince offered essential information to companies wanting to grow or start diversity and inclusion efforts in their companies. She stressed the importance of having a holistic model.

First, Dr. Alice Prince suggested that a successful program will look different depending on the industry and its size. The first aspects to view are the demographics of the board and C-suite employees. The second aspect is to reflect on how impactful you want your program to be. Do you want real change, or will this be a position you eliminate a year from now? A good program has quantitative and qualitative data that depict the organization’s actual state, and the plan is multi-tiered. The multi-tiered plan must have an implementation plan from leadership to frontline employees.

Further, she is inspired by companies that she considers are doing diversity and inclusion right. DELL and the OWN Network inspire Dr. Alice Prince.

She explains how DELL’s inclusive discrimination policy encompasses the company’s values. Alice Prince says Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network has made November 3 as a company holiday. November 3 is now a company holiday at Pathways United, along with 17 other holidays to include, the first day of school and Juneteenth.

Finally, Dr. Alice Prince shared some essential strategies from Pathways United. “Pathways United does not have a stand-alone Diversity and Inclusion Program or just one effort. We are a new company, and from our inception, we viewed everything we did and continue to do through a diversity and inclusion lens,” said Dr. Alice Prince.
