Berkeley Small Business Launches Holiday Auction and Initiative to Donate 10 percent of Each Holiday Purchase to Helping Alleviate Food Insecurity During These Unprecedented Holidays

Berkeley, Ca. – November 17, 2020 – Bestowe Gifting is reminding Americans this holiday season of the true meaning behind gift giving, while, at the same time, bringing increased awareness to the rising threat of food insecurity by donating 10 meals for every dollar spent to Feeding America through their Artist Auction. Beginning Monday, November 16, 2020 and running every week through the end of the year, Bestowe will feature a unique auction item donated by a local artisan, up for sale via their Instagram page. All proceeds of each auction piece sold will be donated directly to Feeding America, helping combat food insecurity during the holidays. Bestowe Gifting will also be donating 10 percent from the sale of every gift box from now through the end of the year to Feeding America.

Feeding America, a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks and the second largest non-profit according to Forbes, estimates that the pandemic could cause an additional 17 million people in the country to become food insecure. That would bring the total of food insecure Americans to more than 54 million including 18 million children. Understanding the need for support, Bestowe Gifting is working to emphasize the true meaning of the holidays with their Artist Auction. Leveraging relationships with their family of artisans, Bestowe Gifting is providing perfectly curated holiday gifts with a double meaning.

“From our founding, we have always emphasized giving back and have partnered with select charities to do so,” said Catherine Weis, founder of Bestowe Giving. “We specialize in giving and are proud to be able to give to Feeding America through our Artisan Auction. While we won’t be able to drastically decrease the number of food insecure Americans, we hope that our efforts will inspire others to think about the meaning behind their gifts.”

Bestowe Giving creates one-of-a-kind gifts that speak to every unique relationship between gift giver and receiver. Each perfectly curated gift box is filled with small-batch artisan products, each with a story to tell about the artist and their wares. The Artisan Auction, running now and available through their Instagram or website, will feature items like:

  • 9th and Larkin Chocolate
  • Alekzandra Zee Wood Panel Art
  • Bestowe Wellness Gift Package
  • Cody Ferris Beaded Chain
  • Electric Sun Creatives Light Catcher
  • Gather and Serve Ceramics
  • MMClay Serving Bowl
  • Oaksmith Hudson Serveware
  • West Perro Wall Hanging
