Legacy Book Press Helps Authors at Any Stage Publish Their Personal Stories

Personal Stories Elevated to a New Level

CAMANCHE, IA – Everyone has a story to tell, but putting that story to paper can be a struggle all on its own. It’s often said that the hardest part is starting, but that doesn’t make editing, publishing, and following through on a story any easier, either. Many people are longing to tell their stories but have trouble getting everything in order so they can finally sit down and get it done. Thankfully for them, there’s hope in the form of Jodie Toohey, owner of Legacy Book Press LLC.

Jodie is an accomplished author, lifelong creative writer, and publisher who founded Legacy Book Press in 2020 to help people share their personal narratives. With a special focus on nonfiction prose, poetry, and autobiographical fiction, Legacy Book Press is the perfect outlet for aspiring writers to share their stories with the world. When she’s not writing and publishing her own books, Jodie is helping authors, soon-to-be-authors, and want-to-be authors at all stages of the process do the same—from pre-idea to reader, and everywhere in between.

Legacy Book Press stands out from other publishers by offering a level of freedom to authors not seen anywhere else. In addition to the benefits of most traditional publishing companies, LBP works alongside the author as a partner during the whole process, giving the author a degree of control more akin to self-publishing. They also don’t ask for money upfront. Instead, they recoup their investment on the back end with royalty splits and author copy discounts. In essence, they have all the benefits of having a publishing company with more of the creative control of self-publishing!

Before beginning the publishing process, Jodie offers services to help writers get their projects off the ground. She offers consultations and evaluations at all stages of the writing process, from the initial idea to near-complete manuscripts. Additionally, she provides services as a ghostwriter if needed and as a mentor and coach to people dedicated to pushing their stories out.

Having published seven books in its first year alone and with several more on the way in 2021 and 2022, Legacy Book Press also specializes in online promotion—a necessity especially prevalent in the time of COVID-19. They’ve published memoirs, poetry collections, autobiographical novels, literary collage works, and more. As a special touch, depending on the book and the author’s wishes, they also donate 10% or more of their profits to charities, including the National Alliance of Mental Health.

“Our vision is to help as many people as possible tell their stories, in whatever form that takes and in a way that meets their author goals,” Jodie says. One way or the other, she’s fiercely dedicated to helping people get their stories written and published.
